Life’s What You Script It

A lot of people are familiar with the concept of the Law of Attraction, but if you aren’t, here’s a basic definition: like attracts like. Whether it be positive or negative thoughts, the more energy you put into them, the more of that same energy you’ll receive in other ways.

While it’s impossible to be happy all the time (because if you were, you’d be a game show host–thank you Veronica Sawyer), we can still try to practice gratitude in our daily lives. This is one of the most fundamental practices in spirituality, and finding even one thing in your life to be grateful for puts out good energy to be reaped later on.

This practice of gratitude can be done through a manifestation technique called scripting. Scripting is writing out the conditions of your ideal life as if they are happening in the present. I think of it as journaling for a parallel-universe-version of yourself.

How to Start Scripting

Like I mentioned above, you can start to practice scripting by treating it as another journaling routine. I’ve just recently been given a fresh, empty journal, and since I’m still working through my primary journal, I decided that this new one could be used for scripting only.

I start each entry by writing down the month and year so that I can look back and see when exactly I put that energy in writing (for my future self who will be experiencing that very reality!). Then, whatever I desire in the moment, I make the focus of my entry.

For example, I’m working on calling in a group of friends that are aligned with my path/growth. I’m also thinking of my finances and career situation since I graduated from college a few months ago. All I do is write about how grateful I am to have “friends who show me love and uplift me in every way” or “a career that allows me to be creative and to contribute my talents in a great way.”

Sometimes, if I have a little fantasy about something in my dream life, I write it down, describing everything as if I were scripting a scene from a movie.

And they don’t even have to be complete thoughts either, just snippets of the life you imagine for yourself. Something I wrote down was “Riding a boat on the Seine river in Paris, France.”

Remember, nothing is too big, as long as it can be written.

Flipping the Script

As the wise old sage, Hannah Montana once said, “Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock!” However, with the state of the world right now, that “make it” part is a little harder than usual. With everyone staying safe and staying inside, all we really can do is imagine what our new lives will be like once we’re allowed to interact with the rest of the world again.

So, when will we be able to make it rock?

Well, it’s no use worrying about what we can’t control. Instead, we can turn our attention inward and tap into our limitless imagination to not only change the status quo of society but of ourselves, too.

If you could be living in the best version of your life right now, what would it be like? What would you be like? Why don’t you write it down?

Just in case you forget.
