A Collection Of Poems

November 21st, 2016                                                                                                  11:22 PM

My whole life

I’ve been told

To sit down

Stay out of sight

Women are to be seen not heard

Trophy wives and soccer moms

All for appearances

And nothing more

But I am not just a shiny thing

To place up on your shelf

I am a queen

Born to rule

So you can either rule by my side

As my king

Or be my subject

Either way

I am to be respected

Not subjected.

If you are

Under the illusion

That I need you

Don’t be.

I am fire.

I am self-sustaining

And self-loving

I do not need you

And I never will

I was better off

Without you

Anyway.

I had a dream once

Placed back in the times

When humans worshipped gods

Like the Greeks and the Romans

In those days I was a goddess

More beautiful than Aphrodite

And more feared than Hades himself

I was worshipped for even my presence

The ground was literally kissed at my feet

It was a beautiful dream but

Unrealistic, I know

The sad reality is that I was a goddess once

Not the most beautiful

Or the most respected

But a goddess nonetheless

It was a beautiful time

But like the mirage, from that once upon a dream

I woke up

When you stopped

Believing

In me.

On the surface I may look normal

Pretty, even

Wide eyes and a kind smile

But trust me when i say

There is nothing behind

This deceiving facade

I am just a receptacle

A waste bin

Where all the people go

To dispose of their troubles

I am full of bad decisions

Abuse

Negativity of all shapes

And sizes

I am just a receptacle

I contained nothing

I am nothing

I am now only

What people have made out of me

I am just

Waste.
