What Remains

What remains to be seen
Is what the here and now cannot
Like the way it makes me feel
The moment you walk in a room.

Or of the smile
That adorns my lips
When I hear you say hello
And return the smile my way

Time will unfold the story of us
The story I think we knew from the start
What stirred inside of us both
But went unspoken

I was always aware
Of the care you sought, even still
And what you had to offer
Which is forever priceless to me

Like a young boy
You have no idea
Of what your simple touch
Does to my soul.

As I gaze at you today
So unaware
Of what life will bring
As am I

I take comfort
In this feeling
In the fullness of my soul and my everlasting smile
And the oneness that only time will tell.
