Because spring cleaning isn’t just for your home
Spring often calls for Marie Kondo-ing our homes of dust, unnecessary clothes, and sometimes people we are better off not having in our lives. But when was the last time you applied the KonMarie method to your own thoughts?
We’ve all had moments of self-doubt. But sometimes those moments can turn into an endless stream of should’ing ourselves. And when we keep should’ing ourselves, we go deeper down the rabbit hole of self-sabotage.
There are enough things in this world to worry about. And of all things that might keep us up at night, our self-doubt should never fall into that category.
So after tidying up your homes, I challenge you to rid your thoughts of anything that does not spark joy and start betting on yourself.
If you are sitting there wondering where to start, here’s what betting on yourself really means and how to do it.
Betting on yourself is getting out of your own way
Have you ever been paralyzed by the fear of failing that you don’t even try? How can you possibly know what you’re capable of achieving if you don’t put yourself out there? Failure is a necessary step toward achieving success. And while it isn’t the greatest feeling in the world to experience failure, it’s important to remember that “failure is an event, not a person.”
It’s in failure where you find resiliency and the strength to grow. By granting yourself permission to get out of your own way, you bet on the fact that you’re capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.
Betting on yourself is being your own cheerleader
You will experience moments where people don’t understand your vision or talent. There will be times where people might not believe in you. When no one is standing on the sidelines cheering you on, remember YOU are still present. YOU are capable. And it’s YOU who has to push yourself forward.
Why do we look outwards for validation when what fuels our fire starts from within? If there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, light that bitch yourself. When you start being your own cheerleader, you free yourself from needing approval from others because you know your self-worth.
Betting on yourself is to trust yourself
Only you know what is right for you. In moments of uncertainty, or when faced with a difficult decision, it’s easy to ruminate over making the “right” choice. While there are many things in this world that is uncertain, the one thing you can be certain about is how you feel.
Lean into your feelings and embrace them. By trusting your gut, you bet on yourself to make the best decisions that are the most sensical to YOU despite what anyone else may think.
What are some ways that you bet on yourself?
