True Love

Remember when we road tripped to New Orleans and spent all weekend confessing our love for each other?
Or when we laughed until we cried sitting in bed drinking wine.
When we had an impromptu photo shoot at the botanical gardens.
And took the hardest, sweatiest yoga class of all time.

Remember when you surprised me at work on my birthday with Tiramisu?
When we went out on the town to laugh, drink, and flirt.
And when you texted me that you’re picking me up to go thrift shopping.
When you said I looked so good you just gave me that shirt.

Remember when you sat with me while I sobbed for awhile
And knew exactly when I needed space.
When you said things I didn’t want to hear, but needed to.
And then let me heal at my own pace.

I remember when you leaned on me in times of hardship
And trusted me enough to let me help you.
I remember when each others presence during horrible days
Was enough to help get us through.

My friends have saved me more than they know,
This list continues to grow everyday.
My gratitude and love for them is the truest of loves,
And will continue to grow when I’m gone away.

I like to read and write and better myself and make the lives of my loved ones easier and happier. My career passion is marine and wildlife conservation. I’ve been a zookeeper, teacher, water quality tester, nanny, peace corps volunteer, yoga studio worker, bartender...basically, a bunch of stuff except a writer.
