The Words I Keep

There are words I keep in
Though they are trying to escape

They are heavier than a building
Bigger than a river
And they echo to no end

Words that throb
Rocking back and forth

I will say anything but these words

Not admitting
That when I talk about how I loved you
What I really want to say is
“Please, come back”
