The garden

Loss and pain
Their acquaintance made
Send them off now. Let them be on their way.
Dead things will lie
Where they are placed
Nursery or morgue. You decide
What to create.
Grow hard to deaden hope
Keeps you safe inside
A house with a white picket fence
And a job 9 to 5.
But to abuse life is to lose life and so
Be locked away
Pursuing the colonizers dream
Doing things the white way.
The colonizers dream
A failed dream
A failed guardian of sleep
A quest for the best
By telling others they were less
Unable to see
The bleak color sky
Of our unjust tyranny
But we cannot change the past
So now we must breathe love
Into making that which lasts.
We must choose to hope
Choose to look beyond
Wipe away the dust and drudgery from things long gone

Katherine and her two dogs live in Narnia, which she's currently found in Atlanta, GA. She believes all true art is incarnational and life was meant to be our greatest work of art. She received her two dogs in the city of Houston and her BA in English from its university (University of Houston).
