Swimming Lessons

Fast or slow,

we feel like both.

We stood ankle-deep for so long,

diving in was long overdue;

the coldness of the water shocks us still.

In over our heads?

Maybe,

but I hope we never admit it.

Scared of drowning for so long,

yet we swim without life jackets.

This newfound confidence is refreshing,

as the water warms we’ll float hand in hand.
