Summoning of the Spirits

A thunderous rumbling of drums
Summons, Awakens
They rise
turning their faces to the dawn
Blood humming, hearts pounding
in answer.
Unbound their spirits soar, free.
Words that spin truths into light
pour from their mouths
Hair untamed grows from the roots of their thoughts-
The very seeds their ancestors planted
coming to fruition.
They walk in places unknown
They speak with things unseen
They become the unimaginable;
The ensemble of a new Universe.

I've always been fascinated with words. As a Boricua and a descendant of peoples with a strong oral tradition, I suppose it was only natural that I fell into writing. My poetry is inspired by whatever strikes me, and my stories are all fantasy.
