shelter

I think one of the biggest struggles

is not knowing how to live for yourself

not exactly thinking you’re worthless

but not exactly acting

like you’re worth it either

always living for someone else

always shouldering their pain

without thinking twice of your own

turning the music up

so it’s louder than your thoughts

outrunning the storm

only to be caught in the rain

drenched in the downpour

but your arms a shelter for someone else

I am a New Jersey based poet who aspires to share my story through poetry and prose focused on faith and my journey with depression. I have overcome many obstacles and I believe everyone has a story to tell, even if they haven't found the words yet. I hope my words can inspire others to believe in their purpose and to find strength to climb the next mountain.
