Self love with Yoga

Over two months ago, I saw myself in a crossroad between my mind and body.

I felt my body was just caving along with my mental depression.

For years I’ve been saying that I want to do some sort of physical activity to promote better health; and let’s face it, how pretty it is too sell all those women on the TV in their beautiful workout clothes laughing and leaving the gym all giggly with their perfect figures, it’s just not nice!!!

I learned something that I was doing and it’s just wrong. I would go to a shop or browse online through many sports sections to find the right leggings, sport tops and just buy them.

They would arrive and collect dust and eventually every year go to the giveaway bags of clothing for Good Will.

Two months ago something changed… I had horrible back pain from sitting way too many hours at my desk; no time or patience to go to the gym before work or even after, so a light bulb switched on in my head!

I am over stressed, my body hurts and I want to do something about it!

There was only one thing, I had to do it in my home without putting on any footwear, still half asleep and not drive anywhere to do it.

And the winner with a check in every rule was… YOGA!

I checked online courses and found an app that would work perfectly for me based on its reviews (Daily Yoga). It’s not free and I pay a hefty amount for an app every month, but I saved on transportation and I can even do it in my undies and no one will care and that’s exactly what I did. I got the app, paid the fee and went out to get a mat and wrist protections (if only I knew it wouldn’t be the only thing I would need).

On the second session it told me to grab a block… then two blocks… then straps… (don’t freak out just yet, because if you don’t have these you can use house stuff to replace, but eventually you will buy everything because it actually helps a lot to have the props).

After a while you understand why a basic pair of leggings are important and why these woman only wear sport tops. The leggings actually add a bit of compression allowing you to not injure yourself and the sport top is just more comfortable due to the positions you will eventually do as you progress.

But really the best of it all, you can do yoga anywhere without anyone near you; so you can think only of that moment. Your moment!

After awhile, you are hooked. After the first two weeks, you won’t be able to go one day without it and finding that your body is different.

My advise to you is: try it!
