Purpose

I once believed

I had purpose

until I let myself

be convinced otherwise.

I think that’s what

it means to hold on

to faith-

you aren’t easily persuaded

by the things that you know

aren’t true.

Why would I live

my life like

I am worthless

and treat myself like that

when I truly believe

I am deeply loved

and given purpose

my God Himself

to the Christian girl struggling with depression

I am a New Jersey based poet who aspires to share my story through poetry and prose focused on faith and my journey with depression. I have overcome many obstacles and I believe everyone has a story to tell, even if they haven't found the words yet. I hope my words can inspire others to believe in their purpose and to find strength to climb the next mountain.
