My mother’s past? My father’s anger?
Not my burdens to bare.
My brother’s unbelief? My friend’s apathy?
Not my burdens to bare.
My own sins? The weight of my shame?
Not my burdens to bare.
All these things are nailed down to the cross of Christ.
They no longer hold power against me.
All these things are thrown across the universe as far as the east is from the west.
I am no longer a slave held captive and holding on to these burdens.
I am free.
A child of the King.
For too long I have held these burdens.
For too long I have let them weigh me down.
Now I will lay them down.
At the feet of my King, in His presence where only peace, mercy, grace and truth await me.
I will stand in awe and fear and declare:
“I need You, take these burdens I bare.”
