the way the feeling engulfed my being assured a sense of peace like I have yet to know;
my one eternal nirvana.
the endless surrounding noise never stood a chance to the crashing of the waves.
Neither did the way the simple echo of the fighting current pierced me.
I close my eyes from afar—
I can still hear the assault each wave makes on the shoreline.
From here, I can feel the cool splash of saltwater on my toes with every passing wave returning home.
Banter between the waves leaves me forgetting the hot layers of sand on the bottoms of my feet.
As the noise cancels out, a hunt for the perfect assortment of shells occupies my mind.
There is no possible invasion of any bystander.
For now, I am free.
In this moment, I know the meaning of peace.
