My story to tell

You erased me

Slowly

Piece by piece

You tore away at my innocent heart

Knowing I held pain deep inside

You forced me to confront it

Without asking if I was ready

You placed your expectations upon me

The version of who you thought you saw

You envisioned a girl stronger than the pain

And although I have now become her

It is not because you helped me get past it

But because you cause it

Again and again

Heartache after heartache

And I left you behind

With all the memories of that pain

I have chosen to move forward

Yet you keep living in the

‘What ifs’

I am a New Jersey based poet who aspires to share my story through poetry and prose focused on faith and my journey with depression. I have overcome many obstacles and I believe everyone has a story to tell, even if they haven't found the words yet. I hope my words can inspire others to believe in their purpose and to find strength to climb the next mountain.
