March Tarot + Animal Medicine

Nine of Cups + Spider Spirit

Building a life that is filled with our dreams and aspirations takes work people. If you are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a beautiful, fulfilling life to come find you, you are going to be sitting there for a long time. I think we sometimes forget that we need to be active participants in cultivating the life we want to live and lead. But this doesn’t always need to be a hard and daunting task. It can be easier than you think, so please do not be discouraged.

In a moment, I’m going to ask you to take in a slow, deep and purposeful breath and then close your eyes. I’m going to ask you to envision a word that you would like to welcome into your life just a little more. Perhaps it is a descriptor you wish to work toward, such as accomplishments or hydration; or, perhaps it is a theme you want to incorporate more, such as family or play; or, maybe it is a feeling you would like to embrace a little more often, such as joy or peace. It doesn’t matter what it is, just that you are able to see or feel this word in your mind’s eye.

Ready?

Go.

Good. Do you have your word? Now, I would invite you to partake in a small journaling exercise by which you identify why it is you would like to welcome this word (theme, descriptor, feeling, etc) into your daily living, ways you can go about proactively cultivating this in your life, and how it would make you feel if you were able to do so. For some, it may even help to set this word as your goal, and then create smaller action steps or tasks in order to successfully achieve what you want. For example, if your word was “JOY”, if we set this as a goal, we can set action steps as: 1. Practicing mindfulness strategies to increase awareness; 2. Establishing a daily gratitude practice; and, 3. Doing these things for a week, and then self reflecting to see how it went.

The Nine of Cups welcomes us into a period of joy, hopefulness and bliss; but, paired here with Spider Spirit, we can understand that this period is going to take work to manifest and receive. Spider isn’t afraid of the hard work required to create this life for herself, and she is excellent at purposefully and intentionally weaving these things into her home and life. If we borrow from her energy, we can begin to see that it is crucial for us to take ownership and accountability to welcome the feelings we want into our lives.

Personally, I don’t believe in the “magic wand” type of manifestation – the type that asks us to send a prayer or intention or hope out into the universe for us to just one day receive. I believe in active manifestation, in putting in the hard work in order to manifest the life we want for ourselves. And this is exactly what these cards are asking of us; they are asking us to do the work, put in the time and reap the reward that is bliss, or joy, or happiness, or peace, or love, or all of it (to be honest!).

So, Harness Community, this month what do you want to feel? And, how can you actively, responsibly and intentionally make these feelings so?
