lullaby of life

i went through the goo,

now it’s time to trust these wings;

carrying me into better days

visions of flowers

& sunlight

the salty kiss of seas

rain drops in soft silver petals—

i won’t be afraid of my power or my magic

any longer

because i am not always a monster

sometimes i am a butterfly

beautiful and sinewy in search of

a sweet flower whose melody i can dance to

in this lullaby of life.
