i’m trying to be softer

thought; today/ this is an invitation to be softer. to be softer- or you can harden. it’s your choice.
i’m trying to be softer
ironically, that the more i snap at the world for not bending to me,
the more the world snaps underneath me
learning, that no one but me is trying to make my life harder
breathing into the idea that, it’s me. it’s always been me.
when you live for years with the fire in the soles of your feet
and the dead weight in your soul
you have to wonder who’s responsible
i can only be bitter for so long
i can only harden for so long
today, in all of it’s messiness, in all of the frustrations
and the fear
and the shame
and the guilt
and everything dark and cloudy/
today, in all of it, i can soften
to be softer is to be more alive.
to be softer is to be human.
