I’m Fine

she’s been broken
crumpled into
a pile of aching bones
hiding and waiting
for the world to forget her
she tries washing
the black river stains
left behind
from the tears she’s cried
as the sorrow
ravages the remaining pieces
of her weary heart
she tucks away the darkness
that lingers
just beyond the emerald pools
shining in her swollen eyes
she carries on
as if the weight
of what’s left her behind
doesn’t cross her mind

I have a BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment from Full Sail University. I have been a freelance writer for eight years, and writing poetry since I was about 12. Poetry has always been a way for me to not only cope with life, but to express the feelings that overwhelm me.
