How It Is

Is love like this?

How

these incontinent hearts of ours

piss past our rib cages.

How

we go from

lapping lava in the sun

to the barren craters of the moon.

How

our lips are disoriented

from kissing and screaming,

how

our souls are bent

and barricaded

by the war we started

with a hello.

You know it.

That is how love is.
