Hopes, 2 a.m.

It had to end sometime

Sweet beer smell aborning

The nights out till morning

Long kisses, while God was sleeping

It had to end sometime

The eyes like a car’s brights

The world’s-asleep up nights

With the one who’s not yours for the keeping

It had to end sometime

Parked car like a cocoon

Your blanket the full moon

The things that your bodies insisted

You have to end sometime

Like every kiss

Every bubble of bliss

And no one will know you existed
