Happy

You are happy

You are happy
You are happy
Bounces between the walls of my brain
Echoing from a place I don’t know if I want to reach
A day where good is a way of being
Where wildflowers grow in places unexpected
And they really love you in the way you need them too
You are strong
But you didn’t know your biggest battle would be
Between the thing you want most and the thing you know most
Watering the garden with your wild dog
Running around the yard like he is still a puppy
You hear an unfamiliar chant
You are happy
You are happy
You are finally happy
But you don’t feel happy
You feel afraid
