For the Fighters

This one is for the fighters
the survivors
the ones who carry on through darkness and pain.

This is for the ones who have looked in the mirror
and seen empty eyes
and not known the face reflecting back.

This is for the ones who have waited all day,
for the shower to conceal
the tears at the brim.

This is for the ones who have welcomed the rain
in hopes that the storm
would drown out the noise.

This is for the ones who persevere through it all
even when life
means nothing at all.

This is for the ones who refuse to give up,
who hold onto hope
for brighter days coming.
