Fighting Time

Independent of time,

you and I.

The feeling of familiarity persists in my heart,

while my head still tells me you’re new.

Minutes feel like hours when I’m missing you,

but these years have been a blink of the eye.

Our obsession with the clock reminds me that every second counts,

the race against time makes me feel alive.

The game will end,

and time will pass normally once again,

but I’d like to think we’ve given it a run for its money.

Time looks at us in awe as we overcome it,

bend it at our will,

and become better because of it.

I think the time we have in this life will multiply in the next one.
