drive

when you’ve taken enough detours

and are seeking a direct route

when you’ve had your fill of subterfuge

and your heart is playing subtler fugues

when you are seeking but not lost

hungering but not empty…

i am planning a revival of the soul

and i am aspiring toward an elusive goal

i am thanking the span of time

for somewhere in the course of that journey

traversing barren landscapes

i found a blossom

battered by winds and still in bloom

and on a lonely roadside

in a sea of shadow

i met myself…
