Break me down

I’m not the kind of girl
To let go so easily
To give up
Without a fight
But I have found
The greatest battles
Are within me
In my thoughts
And the words clouding my mind
Although I have walked through the fire
Burned by the lies
I am not the kind of girl
To let go so easily
Of this strength
Or to give it up without a fight
So try to break me down
My past is no longer
The ghost that haunts me

I am a New Jersey based poet who aspires to share my story through poetry and prose focused on faith and my journey with depression. I have overcome many obstacles and I believe everyone has a story to tell, even if they haven't found the words yet. I hope my words can inspire others to believe in their purpose and to find strength to climb the next mountain.
