Dear Fellow Women,
I write to you this afternoon out of frustration. I’m going to be frank—I’m on my period this week. It’s only the second day, and I’ve already had one of those bleed-through-everything days. That’s right, I bled through my underwear, through the tight, stretchy shorts I wear during this time of the month and onto the towel I sleep on, just in case such a lovely occurrence should take place.
Do you ever feel like you’re doing the whole ‘woman thing’ wrong? Like every other woman has things more figured out than you do? I know I do. I mean, I’m in my late twenties and still having trouble controlling my period from making a mess. Not to mention, every month when I get bad cramps, I still act and feel like the biggest baby in the world.
As I was once again pondering if I was a crappy example of a woman, I realized something I’ve always known, but have never really given myself credit for dealing with—being a woman is hard. I don’t care how many times we get our periods, it’s always going to be a pain (if not literally, then figuratively). It’s always going to be difficult to ride the waves of being a woman and all that comes with it.
Please know that if you struggle keeping up with the stresses of being a woman, you are not alone. We all have times when things get out of control, when all we want to do is cry and scream in aggravation.
Also, I ask that as women, we support each other and never make each other feel weak for not always being on top of things. We have men for that (just kidding!). But seriously, we need to stick together!
