What do my eyes say
When you can’t see my smile?
That I just want to breathe?
That every step feels like a mile?
You can’t see me laugh.
You can only hear
And, if I cover my eyes
You can’t see the fear.
I know how to hide.
To not share what I feel.
The mask covers nothing
When nothing is real.
I like my mask.
To not have to pretend
That I don’t want to talk
To most of my friends.
If you want to know,
Sure, you can ask.
But for now you’ll see nothing
Behind my mask.
