Awakening

The air touched my skin, an awakening
I sit with you
Our arms linked
As we sat on the steps of the stoop
The sounds of birds, the wind surround us
Empty roads
Contained homes
Muddy grass from the rain of yesterday
We sit distant, yet together
as the world moves slowly and cautiously around us
The air was warm that Sunday in Spring
A sudden comfort
A welcoming to fresh air
It’s not over but it will be in time
We hold each other tight
Everything will be okay
Everything will be okay
