I wonder
Whether I’ve gone mad
Whether today is the day I dye my hair
silver
or close to blonde,
making the world think
I’m opposed to the race I’ve grown up to
I wonder whether today may be the day
I act on impulse and rage,
flee across the country
where I know no one
Then again,
I don’t know you anyway
Whether I’ll ever meet a man
or a woman
Who knows nowadays
And rise in love
Or whether I’ll ever let myself
come as close to such intimacy
Truly, I don’t know if I’m afraid
Or whether
I simply want none of it
I wonder whether I’ll live
on the road
or in some brick built home
or secluded in a jungle
where the wilderness calls
