Feelings of the Full Moon

Focus shifts like stars

among the constellations,

renewing regrets.

Tearing familiarity away brazenly,

outside the sun’s gate, the

ornamented moon glimmers,

looking away from the sun to

admit her wounded words,

troubled from

endless waiting.

The split sky gazes,

one eye at the sun, one at the moon,

living in a choice with no

options, escaping her heart’s

vacancy. she needs the sun, yet

every time the moon shines brighter.

Hi, my name is Ria! I'm a junior at Barnard College of Columbia University, currently living in Manhattan.

I've always enjoyed writing and aim to express feelings and inspire others through poetry. My biggest inspirations for my poems are the "a-ha" moments that I experience, the fairy lights in my room, and words that I simply think just sound good together.

Thanks for checking my writing out! For project inquiries, shoot me an email at [email protected]. :)
