Lost Accomplishments

Lost Accomplishments

Accomplishments in the wind

Caps and gowns and caps and gowns and…

Empty classrooms.

If you listen to the breeze closely,

You’ll hear “Summa Cum Laude”

You’ll hear “Class of 2020”

You’ll hear “Your degree will be sent to you in the mail”

Good job!

Good job!

You feel you can’t cry because others have it worse.

You feel you must cry because you worked so hard.

You feel angry.

Stay home!

Do yoga!

Find a new hobby!

Don’t let your life collapse around you,

There’s no time!

Yet there’s all the time.

So you sit in front of a screen and tell yourself it was worth it.

This will be the subject of a million college entry essays,

No prom,

You see.

No ceremonies,

You see.

My party was cancelled, your honor.

There are no hands to shake.

So congrats, to us,

I guess.

Congrats.

Stay safe.
