Boxes

She packed boxes in her mind
then he packed boxes.
long after diaper boxes,
pizza boxes,
boxes with a diamond ring
boxes,
the one she wore.
compartmentalized,
like feelings.
I pack boxes like my mother,
avoid sad music,
hold the smoke show extra long,
make love to my lover
who’s patiently unpacking my boxes.

I'm a young writer -- 24 years old. Writing grounds me and helps me make sense of my own feelings and actions. The world is a cyclical place. Everything is relatable. Every situation has the capacity to be examined from a different angle. I hope someone (anyone) finds some solace in my words. I think that's all any of us really hopes for.
