Love Me For a Lifetime

A box of chocolates won’t make you sweeter
Flowers die within a weeks time
And the teddy bear will end up on the floor of my closet

As much as you wish,
A gesture like this won’t make me love you

I’m not falling for the trap
Of a yearly ploy
To make those who are alone
Desperate for love

You should love me on the ordinary days
And not with gifts
But with words from your heart

Because love shouldn’t come and go
It should be here for a lifetime
