Word to the Wise

The day she lost you her whole world turned around
What started as a typical morning
Turned into how his body was found
In descriptive detail without warning
Was how the call began
As the eyes built rivers ready to ride
Deciding a plan
To ask what was being said on the other side
Waiting to hear a beep of the call over
As a few simple words rolled off the tongue
All wanted to hold her
But her eyes just stung
Wanting to pretend this morning never happened
But the back of minds said it did
Stay strong in the end
Hoping to get rid
Of the past
Word to the wise:
Love doesn’t last.
