The Battle

Draw my sword but I am the enemy
I know my mind uncannily
My demons seek to ravage me
My darkness is a storm within
No forgiveness for my sin
Is it a fight that I can win?
Eyes are crying
Fears are lying
Heart is dying
And yet I rise
My soul still flies
Ancestor-type wise
Somehow I have the strength to fight
The will to set the wrongs right
Because inside I still have my light.

I've always been fascinated with words. As a Boricua and a descendant of peoples with a strong oral tradition, I suppose it was only natural that I fell into writing. My poetry is inspired by whatever strikes me, and my stories are all fantasy.
