The Mask We Hide Behind

We are bound,

By our haunting pasts

And our uncertain futures,

The two are similar

Silently harboring an uncontrollable fear,

Lurking around the corners of our mind,

Plagiarizing an appearance to the outside world,

A face to mimic emotions to keep others secure with their own

existences as to not shift the tectonic plates of normalcy,

You, of course, accept these circumstances from the contract of life,

But would rather not make waves,

So your crown is straight, your smile bright,

Though the broken shards of mirror dwell within,

You manage, you always manage.

Well I'm never really good about describing myself, I mean who is right? I'm a writer, artist, runner, hiker, mother, and a very hard worker. Seems income never wants to go passed the bills but that's life, or so I've heard. I have anxiety and depression. I'm very open about my mental health and my past traumas with abuse. I like helping other women that have been in similar situations. Just because not everyone has found their strength to open up, doesn't mean abuse is fiction. It's real and in many forms. Be strong.
