The Thing You Were Best At

there’s delight

in the way you laugh

like a watercolor sky

storms of ivory

and cheek bones

floating along

a river of milk and honey

the tip

of your tongue

peeks behind

a gap tooth

get lost in the moment

and bite down

silent

eccentric

body limp

to your knees

almost always until the air

you’ve collected in your lungs

vanishes

here lies you

the best part of you

like a little death in me

but isn’t that how it usually goes

Hi! My name is Rose and I am a reader, writer, binge-watcher, and part-time employee. I earned my bachelor's at CSU Long Beach with a major in English Creative Writing and a minor in Women's Studies and I am currently enrolled in a CSU Dominguez Hills certificate program for technical writing. Ideally, I would like to eventually work my way into the editing and/or publishing field but it's always been a goal of mine to have my work published.
