Temporary Love…

Temporary love…

Gives you a smile in the moment,

Then the moment ends, and you are left with a frown.

Fades like the setting sun over the horizon,

And leaves you standing in the dark to stare at the stars, alone.

Feels like a warm summer breeze brushing at your cheeks,

And once it passes leaves you in the winter cold.

Builds misconstrued dreams, that feel right,

And it’s only upon waking up you realize they were wrong.

Can distract you from problems, but

The problems always outlast the distractions.

Feeds a monstrous appetite,

Until you are fool.

Causes you to wonder,

What’s everlasting…
