Regret

like cigarette smoke;

poison sliding through

my lips and coating

my lungs.

chains wrapped

around my wrists,

shackling me to you.

you did not care about me,

you did not care about me,

you did not care about me.

you have used me;

manipulated my feelings

and used it to heal your own

damaged soul at my expense,

you never cared about me,

all you wanted was the

attention that my love-starved

heart was willing to give you.

and now I am traumatised.

I flinch at the idea of loving,

stay away from anything

even resembling it.

something so pure and

innocent has been tainted

for me, and now I no longer

welcome it with open arms.
