Music and the Mind

Music is believed to have a strong psychological influence on us. Songs do have physiological, neurological, and behavioral effects on humans. But I am no psychologist to establish the psycho-somatic benefits of music. Music to me is more of an element that helps to breathe, refresh and rewind. It’s a continuous source of energy and inspiration for me.

Being a writer I have to spend hours and days of my life confined in my room, sitting at the desk writing or perhaps trying to write. Writing requires solitude. It’s said writing heals but honestly, it does frustrate you at times. It makes you feel lonely. In those moments of aloofness, music helps to soothe my mind.

Music is like the first rays of the sun that brings hope – a new promise that today can be different.

I think music can heal an aching heart like no other thing in the world. It could also be a source of strength when you’re in dire need of some.

My favorite way of expressing myself is through the written word but I take the inspiration to write not only from writers but also musicians. Musicians have always ignited my passion to create something marvelous, something long-lasting!

Good music is not confined to a culture or country though. Artists all over the world have magic wands to stun and mesmerize people with their symphony.

Apart from the feel-good effect it brings by releasing enough “dopamine” in our brain, music inspires any form of art. Brilliant musicians inspire not only music practitioners but any and every other artist.

Music fills my heart and inspires me to write and write some more. I am sure good writing has the same effect on musicians as well.

Finally, I have realized this. I have a relationship with music as I have with the written word. Also, music understands me like no one else in the world. Not everyone can be a great writer but music can motivate you to always aspire to be one.

Music will push and move you, it will make you crave for creating something better. If nothing else, it will fill your heart and make life a lot easier for you.
